After last making a college football video game in 2013, the possibility of the game returning had been in limbo. Now, it isn't. Daryl Holt, EA Sports vice president and general manager, told ESPN the game maker will be returning to the space with EA Sports College Football.

It will [return] -- at some point. Holt said there is not a date on when the game will return or even a date when the return will be announced other than it won't be coming back for this year.
To make the game happen, EA Sports partnered with collegiate licensing company CLC to make sure it had the FBS schools, traditions, uniforms and playbooks -- among other things -- ready to go for the game. Over 100 teams will be in the game.
I realize they're assuming what's apparently called NIL (name, image, likeness) is coming soon, but so far that's not the deal.
Holt said that EA Sports will monitor the NIL discussion if and when things change but that it's too early for that to happen. He also said what happens in NIL legislation will not change whether the game happens or when it will end up on shelves. [emph mine -mfn]

I say that as someone who does recall playing the game he's pretending they might make. From wikipedia.org:

That was always a really weird experience. This, with licenses from colleges, will be at least one better than that.
I wondered why EA Sports didn't get the college licenses and just release editable and tradeable rosters years ago. They've been leaving money on the table for years. Or he's lying about releasing the game without player NIL.
That is, there's no reason for them to announce this other than they smell NIL will be coming soon.

Tell me this: Do you get drug tested when you're suspended? How long before the benefits of juicing disappear after you've stopped taking them? The math seems pretty simple here.
That said, I would've loved to see him grab four HRs in four ABs tonight and walk off with the most insane 700 HRs in history. Guess he'll settle for a double and a third of an inning at third, which was a classy move by the Yankees (though them letting him play shortstop for that third would've impressed me more).
I'm listening to Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen right now on the radio. Please folks, Favre's only going to let his elbow bench him for one of two reasons. (They're not the only ones being thick headed, of course.)
1.) He's about to be suspended publicly for the Sterger scandal, and wants to control who breaks his consecutive game starting streak. 2.) He's about to be suspended privately, and wants a good cover story for why he's taking time off.
Either way, the "tendonitis might sideline me" angle is Favre preparing his story if 1 or 2 happens. With 1.), he's that conceited, which helps make him a great competitor. With 2.), that's just smart PR.
But let's stop being naive. Favre's elbow is a convenient cover story. As Mark Brunell proved with the Redskins, short of LT's hit on Theisman, if a QB can play, he will play until his coach puts him on the bench. I've had awful tendonitis myself, but it's not something that starts immediately. You can play through a great deal of it, and often don't know how bad it's going to be until you go full speed for a while. Often, it really hits you only after going full speed and then stopping. That gives you one good series before you hit the bench, which Favre would take.
As a student suggested to me yesterday, if Arenas can fake an injury to give another player playing time, Favre can sure as heck lie about his to block the Sterger scandal.

CBS and Turner, an entity of Time Warner Inc., will split coverage of the regional semifinal games, while CBS will retain coverage of the regional finals, the Final Four and the championship game through 2015.
Beginning in 2016, coverage of the regional finals will be split by CBS and Turner; the Final Four and the championship game will alternate every year between CBS and TBS. Under the agreement, the NCAA and CBSSports.com will again provide live streaming video of games, although Turner secured rights for any video player it develops. ... McManus acknowledged late Thursday afternoon that if Kentucky, for instance, has a game scheduled on truTV, it won't be shown on CBS -- even in the team's home city.
In a strange mis-mash of networks, the NCAA basketball tournament has been taken off of the airwaves and placed into the hands of basic cable. I've often wondered how long before the sort of setup that the NBA playoffs is using, where only a few games each week are on broadcast television with others split among a number of cable networks, would infect other sports. Right now, only two or three games a week from the NFL are restricted to cable with the great majority broadcast via Over The Air (OTA) television, and the NCAA tournament is only broadcast OTA, with games deemed to have the most local interest broadcast in its respective viewing areas. The NFL and NCAA represent near best cases, but it's a case that's soon to be in the past for March Madness.
Now, starting in 2016, those only with OTA will miss the Final Four and championship game every other year, and even before then will only have about a 1 in 4 chance of seeing the game they want to watch in earlier rounds.
My concern? To some degree, this is simply a result of the market revealing the decreasing power of broadcast television (as well as the filling of broadcast TV's void with the Internet, which it appears will carry every NCAA tournament game), but it's also a further indictment of college sports. The more that college sports trade accessibility -- for students, for local fans and alums -- for money, the less we can argue that those sports are about student athletes, student bodies, and the taxpayers supporting those institutions of higher learning whether they want to or not. Stock up: Sports bars.
